Translator, theatre researcher. Tatsuki Hayashi has engaged in work not only as a translator but also as a researcher into translation theory and praxis. His areas of interest include the role of language in interdisciplinary arts practice and theatre and social theory, and contemporary critique of traditional performing arts, cultural policy, and journalism. He runs Port Tourism Research Center and also teaches at Tokyo University of the Arts and Kyoto University of Art and Design. He was a researcher for Arts Council Tokyo from 2012-2014. His translation of Elfriede Jelinek’s Kein Licht. won the 5th Odashima Yushi Award, the most prestigious prize for drama translation in Japan.
